We started feeding hummingbirds in 1993 after our home was built. By calculations we average feeding 103 plus birds every year. They usually arrive at our place in early to mid March. By August until October it is a full time job keeping feeders cleaned and filled. We have 18 feeders up by that time. It is an amazing sight to see them flying all over our patio. It is like a bunch of locus, humming and zooming around at a fevered pace. Getting fattened up and ready for their big flight to Mexico is of the most importance. Below are a few photographs we have taking over the years. REMEMBER if you are going to feed them you must be sure both to mix the feed properly (4 cups of water to 1 cup of sugar), change it out every couple of days and keep the feeders very clean.
Mold is a killer of Hummingbirds.
